Hi guys!
Writing this in a hotel next to the Iguazu Falls on border with Brazil,Paraguay and Argentina. We are having a fantastic adventure! Lots has happened in only 1 week - here is a summary!
Wed 3 Oct - Flight to Paris delayed - engine would not start - (you were right Trish!
Arrived in Paris to be told we had missed the connection to Rio - Night in Paris care of Air France.
Thurs - flew to Rio - OK - then had a high speed car chase through town to hotel - this was later referred to as the taxis ride from the airport.
Fri pick up car from docks OK - but overheat in Rio traffic on way back to Copacabana beach.
Sat - start rally - lose a lot of time due to engine only running on 5 cylinders, running late so last section in dark - only one headlight works so lose more time.
Get to hotel to find boot lock jammed - have to borrow jemmy to break into car for luggage
Sun Ouro Preto, day off to explore town
Mon Fuel starts to syphon out of breather across garage forcourt, windscreen starts to fall into car and we hit a speed bump so hard one of the rearside windows falls out
Tues - problem with gearbox leaking too much oil, overdrive keeps slipping out so stop and get local garage to take gearbox apart and fit paper gasket to fix it.
Arrive at hotel late and in dark again.
Wed (today) flat battery as kenlow thermostat did not cut it out last night. Judy goes shopping and buys jump leads, get going. After 100 miles overdrive slipping again - have a look under car and oil coming out of gearbox again. Now we stop for both fuel and oil at garages. Hoping to get a better fix in Argentina.
Dull it isnt !

Ted & Judy
