Sabre Story Part 1

I don't know the right word to describe how I put Sabre Six AAY 354B back on the road after it had lain derelict and dismantled for over 20 years. I didn't rebuild it; that means repeating the original factory process to put the car back together exactly as-new, with perfect components.

I can't say that I restored it, because it looks too worn and used. But equally, I didn't bodge it, I put everything back together and ensured it worked properly, but wasn't too concerned that most of the finish was not perfect. To use a Hunter S Thompson term, it is a "Gonzo Rebuild".
What I now have will never be a concours car, but it is the real AAY 354B and not just a few salvaged scraps fitted to a different chassis and body. I realized almost as soon as I bought the cars that I could never get a perfect car, I just didn't have the time and the money. I aimed for a lower target, to get a working classic together, and was able to achieve this in about 15 months, and for a reasonable cost.
